NPO Petrovax Pharm to Supply c. 14 Million Doses of Flu Vaccine to Russian Regions
The pharmaceutical company NPO Petrovax Pharm continues supplying the Grippol® Plus flu vaccine to the Russian regions for children’s National Preventive Vaccination in the epidemic season of 2012–2013.
WHO experts point out that two new strains of the flu virus expected to be active in the new season — B/Wisconsin/1/2010 (the Yamagata lineage) and A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2) — will add to the strength of the epidemic. Hence Head of the Federal Service on Customers' Rights Protection and Human Well-Being Surveillance (Rospotrebnadzor) and Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennadiy Onishchenko encourages everyone in Russia to get vaccinated.
To provide for early immunisation of children, this year NPO Petrovax Pharm started supplying the vaccine back in August, ahead of the season. “Grippol® Plus will protect you even from the new strains, since the vaccine contains purified antigens of the latest flu strains, as recommended by the WHO for the current epidemic season,” says First Deputy General Director of NPO Petrovax Pharm Natalia Puchkova.
NPO Petrovax Pharm has already supplied c. 5 million doses of the vaccine, partially satisfying the needs of almost all the Russian federal districts. A number of the regions listed as priority by Rospotrebnadzor have already received their full consignment of Grippol® Plus, to be followed by the other regions of Russia by the end of November 2012. NPO Petrovax Pharm will supply a total of c. 14 million doses of the flu vaccine for the National Preventive Vaccination in the epidemic season of 2012–2013.
It is important to note that starting this year Grippol® Plus can be used by infants aged 6 months and up, as on 17 July 2012 the Russian Ministry of Healthcare expanded the Grippol® Plus indications.
